After developing information about a possible cock fighting ring, Laramie County Sheriff's Department detectives and Animal Control executed a search warrant on a propoerty at 1908 County Road 217 on Saturday December 27th.

Officers discovered several roosters at the location. The resident told officials that he estinated that there may have been about 300 roosters on the property. Animal control assisted in seizing about 71 roosters.

Officials say there were other roosters present in the rafters of the barn which were not able to be captured. One rooster was found dead in a feed bag. That rooster had injuries to its head, legs and chest which officials say were consistent with cock fighting.

Other items foud at the scene included complex B vitamens, hypdermic needles, penicillin, and sparring gear that is typically used in cock fighting. Officials also found small clippers and a small coping saw used to trim a birds beak and talons.

According to a release from the Laramie County Sheriff's Department, the case will be turned over to the Laramie County District Attorney's Office for review and a request for formal charges.

The case is still under investigation. The names of those involved have not yet been released.
