Laramie County Sheriff Danny Glick says ''We don't have the greatest drivers in Cheyenne, Wyoming."

The Sheriff says that statement may upset some residents, but he says the fact is local drivers are impatient, often speed and don't allow extra time for conditions. He says distracted driving is a big problem as well, adding many people just don't seem to pay attention when they get behind the wheel.

Glick says local motorists seem to expect to get in their cars and arrive where they are going almost immediately "and we understand that."

But he says the problem is that "it only takes one mistake, and with today's vehicles you have thousands and thousands of dollars worth of damage." He says the potential cost isn't even the worst possible scenario, adding he doesn't think most Cheyenne residents "would feel very good about ourselves" if involved in an accident that causes injury or death.

Glick says the problem is growing worse as the population grows and there are more vehicles on city streets.
