The Wyoming senate voted 13 to 17 to kill a bill to ban discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. The bill's sponsor, Laramie senator Chris Rothfuss said he is disappointed the bill failed, but the issue is not going away....

It was a narrow vote as I expected, and I thought it was a very good debate....

Opponents of the bill said they were concerned he bill would classify gays and lesbians as a protected class of citizens and lead to employment lawsuits.Meanwhile, the House defeated two other bills that would have permitted same-sex marriages and domestic partnerships in the state.
