The case against a 40-year-old Cheyenne man who was charged with third-degree and fourth-degree sexual abuse of a minor has been dismissed.

Donald Crerar's attorney successfully argued Friday that there was no probable cause to bind his case over to Laramie County District Court.

Cheyenne Police Officer Laura Michael said that the victim's father, who is Crerar's adopted father, reported the alleged abuse last August after his daughter "stated that she'd been sexually abused by Crerar for years."

According to Michael, "Crerar moved in when (the girl) was 13 years old" and the alleged incidents began when she was 15 and he was 34.

"He placed his penis on her arm," said Michael. "He stated he would kill himself if she told anybody."

"There's no testimony about him being aroused," said Crerar's attorney. "Sexual abuse is more than what's alleged here."

Circuit Court Judge Denise Nau agreed and dismissed the charges.
