Safe Kids Wyoming and the Wyoming Department of Transportation are observing Seat Check Saturday on September 13 to encourage parents to know about the state's law on child safety seats.

Stephanie Heitsch of Safe Kids Wyoming wants people to know state law requires kids under 9 must be secured in a child restraint in the back seat of a car. The law also mandates that children in rear-facing infant seats must not be in front of an active airbag.

Heitsch says there will 6 child safety seat checks in the state through September, with 3 scheduled for Saturday. The Cheyenne event is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Kohl's parking lot.
