On Thursday, August 9th, Albertsons Safeway announced that they had been chosen as the Official Grocery Partner of University of Wyoming Athletics' Department. In an event held at the Laramie Safeway Store, all of the store directors were invited to attend and celebrate the partnership.

As part of the deal, Safeway will receive marketing exposure at War Memorial Stadium and use the tagline in their own store marketing.

“Albertsons and Safeway has a rich history in Wyoming dating back nearly 70 years and we’ve always focused on grassroots support of the community, through veterans programs, food banks and feeding programs, 4H and education.    This  sponsorship marks the next  evolution of our support and provides a great opportunity to show our loyal Wyoming customers that we are equally passionate and proud to be associated with this great University,” said Todd Broderick, President Albertsons/Safeway Denver Division.

Safeway will also be bringing the Cowboys to their stores across the state, with more "brown and gold" in the store and a special new coffee to be offered called "Cowboy Coffee," exclusively in Safeway and Albertsons stores around the state with one dollar for each bag to be donated to the University of Wyoming.

Ridley's on Grand Avenue in Laramie was the previous claimant to the title, a representative from Ridley's could not be reached for comment at time of print.
