Safe Kids Laramie County and Cheyenne Regional Medical Center will present a new child safety seat and a basket of safety items to the parents of the first baby born at CRMC in 2015.

The gifts are being presented through the "first baby" program sponsored by the two organizations. Safe Kids Laramie County coordinator Stephanie Heitsch says the program is a way to share their goal of child safety 'in a very tangible way".

She wants to remind Wyoming residents that all children under the age age of 9 are required by state law to be in a  child safety seat or booster seat when traveling in a car.

The only exception is if the lap  and shoulder belt fit properly across the collarbone, chest and hips of the child and do not pose a danger to the child in the event of a car accident or sudden stop.
