The C-E-O of Visit Cheyenne says it's not clear yet whether high gas prices will impact the state's tourism industry this summer. Darren Rudloff says historically high gas prices haven't had much impact on the tourism industry in Wyoming. But he says a U-S Travel Association national survey last month found that about half of those responding plan to take fewer or shorter trips this summer, or both. Rudloff says one thing that has been affected by prices at the pump is the advertising strategy his organization is following to promote Cheyenne this summer. He says Visit Cheyenne is focusing more of it's promotional efforts in nearby locations, such as the front range in Colorado and Salt Lake City, Utah, rather than more distant locations.
