Today fire crews are concentrating on the northern section of the fire, strengthening fire lines, mopping up hot spots, and providing fire suppression as needed. Monitoring and patrol of other areas of the fire will continue. Crews not involved in fire operations will begin rehabilitation of county roads including dust abatement, while other crews will demobilize and be assigned to other fires as necessary.

Today’s weather includes isolated and scattered showers with thunderstorms beginning after noon.  Wind speeds near thunderstorms could increase to 40 mph. Although strong winds and storms are present in the area, the overall weather conditions provide for a low potential for any additional fire growth.

Fire crews continue to focus on keeping the fire east of County Road 27, south of County Road 32, west of 430 and north of Potter Mountain to minimize impacts to Priority Sage Grouse Habitat, oil and gas infrastructure, grazing allotments, and cultural resources.
