A 61-year-old Cheyenne woman was rescued today by the Laramie County Project Lifesaver team within minutes of being reported missing. Cheyenne Police Department spokesman Officer Dan Long says the woman’s caregiver contacted the Project Lifesaver team when she could not find her client, at  her client’s home in the 5000 block of King Arthur Way, Saturday afternoon. Long says after being notified of the missing client, the Project Lifesaver team used specialized equipment to locate the missing woman. Long says residents who are enrolled in Project Lifesaver wear a personal transmitter that produces tracking signal. If a Project Lifesaver client goes missing the caregiver will call 9-1-1 and an emergency team responds to the call. The woman was found at the Wal-Mart in Cheyenne within 26 minutes after the Project Lifesaver team was notified.

This is the first time the Project Lifesaver team has been called into action in Laramie County. Long says Project Lifesaver was started in Laramie County in May 2011. The team is made up of members from the Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, and the local search and rescue. The program is a community sponsored.
