If there is a Federal government shutdown it would not affect any Postal Service operations and mail service. Postal Service spokesman Al Desarro says the agency is not supported by tax dollars but by revenue from the sale of stamps and other postal services.  DeSarro says the Postal Service would continue to operate nationwide.Desarro says if there is a government shutdown,  at the request of the State Department, the Postal Service would stop accepting passport applications.
