Townsquare Media of Cheyenne published an article earlier this week about Laramie County Commissioner Linda Heath protesting changes made in the downtown Cheyenne parking policy in March by paying a total of $60 in parking tickets in coins.

The commissioner said in an interview she has several problems with the current parking policy, including the current two-hour limit for parking downtown. Heath said she would favor bringing back parking meters if needed to give people shopping and especially those working downtown the ability to park somewhere for more than two hours.

The commissioner also said the city needs more parking spaces for those with disabilities and argued for making one-way streets in the downtown area, except for Warren and Central, two way.

But, Mayor Marian Orr defended the changes in policy, saying it made more parking spaces available and keeps traffic flowing smoothly.
