Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says a crackdown on traffic violations in school zones has led to the writing of 240 tickets for speeding violations alone, with the majority of the tickets having been written in the last month or so. Kozak says the agency made school zone enforcement a priority after receiving widespread public complaints about speeding and other violations near local schools. Kozak says officers are watching all of the school zones in the city, especially at the beginning and end of the school day.

The chief is also asking parents to remind their kids about how to safely cross streets, and many are crossing in the middle of the block and doing other things that are not safe in school areas.
