Pioneer Park Elementary went into lockdown today at approximately 8:20 a.m. when a concerned parent reported to the Cheyenne Police Department that a suspicious individual was speaking with one of the school’s students.

District officials say at the recommendation of Cheyenne Police Department to ensure student safety, Principal April Gates brought all students inside the school and locked the doors until the individual could be identified.

Lockdown was lifted at approximately 8:45 a.m. after the Cheyenne Police Department determined the individual who approached the student was the student’s father.
