CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - One of two men charged with murdering another man at the Big Horn Motel last December has accepted a plea deal.

Dagoberto Ontiveros pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of murder Friday.  Under the plea agreement, the defense and prosecution can argue for whatever sentence they consider appropriate.

Ontiveros was arrested after the motel owner found 48-year-old Anthony Hayward dead in his room. Ontiveros and Joshua Bowen, who has also been charged with murdering Hayward, have been accused of killing Hayward in an attempt to rob him.

An autopsy revealed that Hayward had died from asphyxiation.

Ontiveros reportedly admitted to police that he had been in the hotel room, but he claimed he was too drunk to remember anything.
