A head-on collision 14 miles south of Laramie on U.S. Hwy 287 has resulted in the death of one person.

Around 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Wyoming Highway Patrol responded to the call. Lt. Mike Simmons, who was on the scene, said that a pick-up truck headed northbound lost control, entered the southbound lane and hit a semi-truck head-on.

The highway had been closed while emergency services tended to the scene, but was re-opened around 2:10 p.m.

WYDOT and the Highway Patrol confirmed the fatality Thursday afternoon.

The name of the driver that was killed has not yet been released.
