Birthdays are something celebrated every day of every year both here in Wyoming and around the country.

It was on this date in 1876 that the 13th Governor of the state of Wyoming was born. His name was Frank E Lucas and today is his birthday anniversary.

He became the 13th Governor of Wyoming upon the death of Governor William B. Ross in 1924. In a gubernatorial contest in November of that same year, Lucas lost to Ross' widow Nellie Tayloe Ross who became the first woman Governor in the state of Wyoming and in the United States of America.
