Police Memorial Proclamation (Amy Richards/TSM)

Members of the Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff’s Department, the Wyoming Highway Patrol and the USAF/90th Security Forces Group from FE Warren AFB  were on hand Saturday for the first annual Law Enforcement Memorial and Parade. Cheyenne Police department spokesman Sgt. Rob Dafoe says the event was a way to honor all  Wyoming Peace Officers who have died in the line of duty.

May 13 –19, 2012 is recognized as “National Police Week” across the country as law enforcement agencies honor those who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting.

The event included a proclamation from Governor Matt Mead, a  parade down Capitol Avenue, displays and demonstrations at the Depot Plaza and a candlelight memorial service, which included the reading of the names of the Wyoming peace officers who died in the line of duty.
