Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says work on the new Walmart store in east Cheyenne is underway and should be completed in time for an opening in the fall of 2015.

The plans for the new store call for a 190, 000 square foot facility at College Drive and Campstool Road, which is slightly smaller than the existing Cheyenne Walmart on Dell Range.

The new facility will also include a front plaza area with benches and landscaping. The new Walmart will be the second large retail outlet in the city to follow Cheyenne's 'big box" standards adopted by the city in 2006. following the Cheyenne Menards Store.

Those standards mandate certain details and landscaping designed to minimize the scale of the building and it's appearence.
