Andrew Stedd, a pediatrician from Missouri, states that burning scented candles in your home or office could be very dangerous. Here is why he thinks we should not burn them.  Dr. Stedd also specializes in Environmental Toxicology, stated recently that one hour of scented candle burning can be equated to smoking one cigarette.

He talked about the soot in candles can threaten respiratory systems in children and adults. The contents in the candles contain zinc, lead and tin. He also stated that these metals can easily make their way in the air as there are not filters.

These are not dangerous to wax workers, nor of those who burn beeswax or soy candles.
