Medicare recipients may see a huge increase in their premiums next year.

Tim Lockwood, spokesman for AARP Wyoming, says that Medicare Part B premiums are going to skyrocket next year for those who get Medicare, but not Social Security, those who pay for Medicare separate from their Social Security and those in a higher income bracket.

"There is about a one in seven individual who will see a pretty large increase in their premium," said Lockwood. "So it could be upwards of a 52% increase for some individuals, which could be quite steep."

Lockwood says the increase has to do with the fact that there won't be a Social Security cost of living increase in 2016.

He says some may decide to draw Social Security now, in order to avoid the premium increase, but he says that may be unwise since the increase may only last for a year.

Medicare recipients have until December 7 to decide if they want to change plans.
