Mayor: Project Delays, Potholes Main Storm Impact
Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says delays on city street projects and an increase in potholes are the biggest impact of a storm system that passed through the area last week.
While the same system caused severe flooding in parts of Colorado, the mayor says that other than some flooded basements and leaking roofs, he hasn't heard of any real damage or injuries in the Cheyenne area. But Kaysen says the storm will have a significant impact on the time frame for completion of the East Pershing Project and the Converse/Pershing/19th Street Roundabout.
Kaysen says both of those projects will now be delayed by somewhere between 10-12 days. Despite those delays Kaysen says he is still hopeful both projects can be wrapped up by the end of November. He also says the storm has caused an increase in potholes on city streets.
Finally, the mayor says the city compost facility remains closed at last report due to standing water. Kaysen says officials hope to re-open that facility in the next day or two.
