Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen Monday night vetoed a resolution passed by the Cheyenne City Council recently that limited the amount of revenue from garbage fees that can be used for other city services.

The council overrode the veto by a 7-2 vote.

Mayor Kaysen said that reducing the transfer of revenut into the general fund would have a negative impact on the city's budget and may lead to layoffs.

Councilman Sean Allen, one of the sponsors of the resoultion says he was surprised by the mayor's veto, but not surprised that the council rejected it.

There was some discussion on delaying a vote to override the veto until the new council is seated in January, but it was decided to hold a vote immediately.
