Yesterday, Maverick Schutte underwent open heart surgery again. In his short life, the 7-year old Cheyenne boy, born with a congenital disease that affects his heart and lungs, has had more than 30 surgical procedures.

The operation was risky, as doctors replaced a stent in Maverick's pulmonary valve. After the surgery, his mother Marti Linnane posted an update online.

"I cannot explain how proud I am of him. He flew through the surgery with flying colors," she said. "I can't thank everyone enough for all of your support, prayers, messages, texts, calls, and love. Keep up the prayers as we wait and see what's next."

He isn't completely out of the woods yet. While he faces an uncertain future, there is one thing we know for sure; Maverick is a fighter. Thankfully, he's made it through another round.
