A woman and two-year-old child were taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital early Sunday after a standoff with law enforcement that lasted about five hours.

As the standoff ended, 30-year-old Daniel Intlekofer was arrested on charges of aggravated assault, felonious restraint and possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Albany County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called to the 4600 bock of Bluebird Lane at 2:23 a.m. Sunday to conduct a welfare check on a woman.

Deputies reportedly learned that a man and woman were inside the home with a two-year-old child, and a domestic disturbance had taken place.

Deputies also learned the woman feared for her life, according to the news release.

When they got to the home, deputies tried to talk to the people inside, but nobody answered the door. Deputies saw two adults moving around inside the house as though they were attempting to hide from law enforcement, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the house.

Deputies used several different methods to confirm that the man, woman and child were indeed inside.

Eventually, Laramie's Special Response Team was called in to assist. During the standoff, deputies got a search warrant for the home, according to the news release.

The Special Response Team tried to contact the people inside the home for several hours. A team member trained in crisis negotiation was able to get the man, Intlekofer, on the phone.

After about ninety minutes on the phone with the negotiator, Intlekofer agreed to come out peacefully. The standoff ended at 7:24 a.m.

The investigation lead law enforcement to believe Intlekofer allegedly physically assaulted the woman and cut her several times with a knife, according to the news release.

Intlekofer allegedly would not let the woman leave the house when deputies arrived. He is also accused of making several other threats, which were not specified in the release.

The woman and child were treated by paramedics at the scene. They were later taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital for further medical treatment.

Intlekofer was arrested and taken to the Albany County Detention Center.
