Incumbent Laramie County Commissioner M. Lee Hasenauer will seek a four-year seat on the commission this year. Hasenauer, who was first elected in 2012 to what was then a two-year term, said he learned a lot over the past couple years and is now ready to serve a full term.

Hasenauer said he believes local government should not try to fix problems by putting every issue on the backs of the tax paying citizen. His main focus will be protecting the county against outside regulations from agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). He added that he is also concerned about the Plan Cheyenne initiative that was approved by the Cheyenne City Council and in an amended form by the Laramie County Commission.
