Wyoming congresswoman Cynthia Lummis says it's important for the United States to maintain a credible nuclear capability in the face of federal budget concerns and potential cuts to the defense budget. Lummis says the nation's ability to pinpoint targets and strike them within 21 minutes remains a "profound advantage" versus potential adversaries. F-E Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne is home to part of the nation's nuclear missile force. Lummis says she recently discussed the issue with the Secretary of the Air Force and other defense officials, adding she believes they understand the importance of the missile force to national defense
