The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is trying to find out who illegally killed a buck mule deer at the Volin Trailhead between Crystal Reservoir and Granite Reservoir on November 30.

Spokesman Jeff Obrecht says the animal was shot with a high powered rifle and the meat was left to rot. State law allows a maximum penalty of a year in jail, a $10,000 fine and a 10 year suspension of hunting and fishing privileges for people convicted of poaching. Obrecht is asking anyone who may have information on the case to call the stop poaching hotline at (877) WGFD-TIP. Obrecht says anyone with information leading to a conviction in the case may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
