Liz Cheney: Congress Needs To Roll Back The EPA

Wyoming congressional candidate Liz Cheney says congress needs to reign in what she says are the unconstitutional actions of federal regulatory agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency [EPA].

Cheney accuses President Obama of "sitting in Washington and directing them [the EPA] to fundamentally destroy our coal industry." She also says federal regulatory agencies have been given authority "far beyond what the constitution would envision or authorize."

She says congress needs to take back much of the regulatory power currently wielded by federal agencies and start aggressively overseeing the actions they take.

Cheney says the reality is the EPA and similar agencies are mostly outdated anyway, because there are numerous state agencies across the country that handle most day to day environmental regulation. She says that wasn't true when the EPA was launched many years ago.

Cheney, the daughter of former Vice-President Dick Cheney, is one of several candidates vying to replace Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), who isn't running for re-election.

Cheney made the comments Wednesday morning in an interview with KGAB-AM in Cheyenne.
