Lions Park Hosts Traveling Memorial Wall Through Sunday [Audio]

The southeast corner of Lions Park, at 8th Avenue and Central avenue will remain open 24 hours a day while the American Veteran Traveling Tribute Memorial Wall is on display in the park from Thursday June 23rd through Sunday morning, June 26th.  The memorial wall is a four-fifths size, aluminum replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Jason Sanchez, Director of Parks and Grounds, says the rest of Lion's Park will remain closed from midnight to 5 a.m.  Those wishing to view the wall will be able to park in Lions Park on Thursday, Friday and Sunday morning. Lion's Park will be closed on Saturday for Frontier Refining Superday activities, but Sanchez says you can still visit the memorial....

Opening ceremonies for the Wall are scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday evening. closing ceremonies are set for 11 a.m. on Sunday.
