Lions Park Bald Eagle Moves On After Spending Another Spring Break In Cheyenne

Did you see the bald eagle in Lions Park again this year? According to locals, the adolecent eagle has moved on after spending several days perched in a tree above Sloans Lake. 

It is probably the same eagle that spent nearly two weeks in Lions Park last spring. Based on pictures, it appears to be around four years old.

Typically, their beaks will turn yellow around the age of five. At that time, they will shed the brown and grey feathers on their heads and their tail feathers will turn white.

Lions Park has long been considered an Important Bird Area by the National Audobon Society. However, it is rare to see a bald eagle in the park, especially two years in a row.

Hopefully, the majestic bird will return to Cheyenne for spring break again next year.
