Laramie County School District 1 is holding a community meeting on Thursday,  Jan. 29 at 6 p.m., in the Central High School Auditorium, 5500 Education Drive.

DLR Group, an architectural firm that is working for the district, is conducting a study on finding solutions to building condition and capacity problems at Deming Elementary and surrounding schools. This study is part of the Wyoming School Facilities Department’s process for determining the most cost-effective remedy for the situation.

Information is being reviewed by a committee made up of representatives from City Planning, School Facilities Commission, school principals, LCSD1 Board members and senior leadership, and LCSD1 Planning and Construction staff. Four options will be presented at the public meeting.

Since the outcome could impact families at Deming-Miller Elementary, Freedom Elementary, Pioneer Park Elementary and the Afflerbach Elementary Trailblazer Program, public input is being sought. This feedback will be used by the committee to develop a recommendation for the LCSD1 Board of Trustees to approve.

After group presentation in the auditorium, participants will move into the Commons area to discuss the options. The meeting will last until about 7:30 p.m.

Those who are unable to attend can find information from the meeting, including the four options, on the district website, Comments will also be taken online.
