Laramie County Fire District Number 2 showed off their new fire truck during their open house on Saturday. Distrit 2 Fire Chief Jason Caughey says the new engine is a great addition to the fire department.

Caughey says the new truck combines two vehicles into one. It contains all of the exrication equipment used in vehicle accidents. It also contains 1,000 gallons of water to be used for structure fires as well as a compressed air foam system. Caughey says the compressed air foam is a modern technology which enhances the capability of the water in the county, which is somewhat limited for fighting fires.

Caughey says the engine was paid for by a $500,000 Assistance to Fire Fighting Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) plus a $25,000 local match.
