Laramie County Community College has received a $50,000 grant to expand the college's ''Gear Up" program.

That program is designed to help high school students across Wyoming get more prepared for college. Among other things, the program offers academic support tutoring, college campus visits, ACT preparation and testing and career exploration counseling.

Right now only high school students who qualify for free lunches and are low income can take advantage of the program. But the new grant will allow the program to reach up to 2,500 Wyoming students.

The grant was awarded through the John P. Ellbogen Foundation.
