State Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill announced Tuesday that Laura Drake, a third grade teacher at Goins Elementary School in Cheyenne, has been named Wyoming's 2013 Teacher of the Year.

Laramie County School District 1 Superintendent Mark Stock called Drake a ''tireless worker who exemplifies what most excellent teachers do". Stock went on to praise her as ''very student centered and a very caring person''.

As Wyoming Teacher of the Year, Drake automatically qualifies as nominee for the National Teacher of the Year Program, which is sponsored by ING and the Target Retail chain.
