The Laramie Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying a dog and its owner, in connection with a dog bite incident that happened on Friday, July 26th.

According to the L.P.D., the dog bite occurred at 5:00 in the evening of the 26th, at Lee's Trailer Court, on the 1600 block of North Cedar.

The victim was said to be on his driveway when a medium size dog lunged at him, biting the victim's hand.  The dog was described by the victim as a tan and dark brown dog, possibly a shepherd mix, with short hair and no collar.  The dog was last seen running west through the trailer park.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the dog or the owner is asked to call the Animal Control Unit at 721-5385 or non-emergency dispatch at 721-2526.

The Animal Control Unit reminds that animal bites can involve exposure to rabies and that all animal bites must be reported to the Animal Control Unit immediately.  Should you be the victim of an animal bite, the Animal Control Unit says that it is imperative to try to identify the specific animal and the owner's contact information while they are still present.  They go on to say that a cell phone picture can be helpful, as well.
