CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Oil production in Laramie County continues to drop after record-high figures in December.

The latest data from the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission shows that about 310,750 barrels of oil were extracted in Laramie County in June, a 3.6 percent uptick from last year, but nearly a 43 percent drop from December.

December saw a monthly record of more than 544,200 barrels of oil extracted in the county.

Industry officials say low oil prices have caused companies to scale back or stop new drilling plans. Prices have been between $40 and $60 per barrel for most of 2015. Last year prices were more than $100 per barrel.
