Laramie County Deputy Sheriff Donald Heiduck was recognized thursday with the WYHY Federal Credit Union Community Advocate Award Thursday.

WYHY President and CEO Bill Willingham says Heiduck was one of the finalists for the award and through a public statewide process Hiduck received 23,800 votes. Heiduck said he is thrille.

Heiduck received a $2,000 check made out to his charity of choice Project Lifesaver in Laramie County. He says Project Lifesaver provides first responders with a comprehensive program including equipment and training to quickly locate and rescue “at risk” individuals with cognitive brain disorders who are at constant risk of wandering off.

Heiduck says they are working on legislation to possibly expand the program statewide.
