Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says the department has teams of three or four officers who are working together to catch motorists who violate the city's cell phone ordinance as well as other traffic infractions. Kozak says the teams are especially targeting the three most common traffic violations, which besides cell phone usage by motorists also includes people who speed and who run red lights. The chief says the teams will pick a street or a part of a street to target with high-intensity enforcement efforts. Kozak says cell phone violations, speeding and running red lights are not only the most common traffic offenses, but are also to blame for the largest share of traffic accidents in the city.
