Cheyenne Police Chief Brian Kozak says a 26 year old man who is facing First Degree Murder charges in Cheyenne was still in police custody in Fort Collins at last report.

Daniel Guajardo is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, 26 year old Janessa Spencer, in Cheyenne on April 12th.

He also faces Attempted First Degree Murder charges in connection with the shooting of 24 year old Sam Cook of Cheyenne in the same incident.

Cook was shot in the shoulder but survived.

Kozak says Guajardo is "fighting extradition", adding the Laramie County District Attorney's office is "working to get him back up here".

Guajardo was arrested in Fort Collins later on the day of the shooting. Kozak also thanked Fort Collins Police for "keeping several different houses under surveillance"  and making it possible to arrest Guajardo fairly quickly.
