Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says city officials are looking at possible ways of improving security at city hall and other city owned buildings.

He says the discussion was already underway prior to the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Connecticut, but adds no decisions have yet been made. The mayor says city officials are looking at such options as clarifying gun laws on city properties, placing either a uniformed or non uniformed police officer in the buildings, installing metal detectors and other possible measures.

But Kaysen says that while security is a concern, so is the accessibility of city government to Cheyenne residents, and he doesn't want to do anything to interfere with that access.
