Cheyenne Mayor Rick Kaysen says the city's application for state money to build an elevated walkway in downtown Cheyenne is moving forward.

The city is asking for a $562,000 grant and a loan of $187,000 from the Wyoming Business Council to build the skywalk, which would link a Hilton Hotel proposed for 17th and Pioneer with the Jack R. Spiker Parking Facility.

The city would then lease the elevated sidewalk to the hotel, which would use it to allow hotel guests to have access to parking. Kaysen says the proposal is currently before the business council. Kaysen says if all goes well a major portion of the work on the skywalk can be completed in 2014.
