Cheyenne Regional Medical Center CEO Margo Karsten is asking hospital employees to park farther away to clear more space for patient parking.

Karsten says she has started parking on the fifth floor of the hospital parking garage and is encouraging others to do the same. She says she thinks "the perception of tightness" of parking is mostly caused by hospital employees parking close to CRMC,  leaving little room for patients and other hospital visitors.

Karsten says that while more stories could be added to the parking garage to create more spaces, that probably isn't necessary yet. She says there are usually 75-100 open parking spaces on the fifth floor, and if employees ''take a few extra steps" by parking there and in other more distant locations it should solve the problem of patient parking.

She also says the hospital has valet parking available for those who need it.

On another topic, Karsten says work on the hospital lobby should finish up in December. She says the hospital may have an open house for the public once the work is finished.
