CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A district judge has ordered a competency evaluation for a Cheyenne man accused of gunning down two people and critically wounding a third at his house last summer.

District Judge Peter Arnold on Monday asked lawyers to draft an order requiring the evaluation for defendant Nathaniel Castellanos.

Castellanos, who's in his early 30s, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in the August 2011 shootings of 21-year-old Corey Walker, 21, and 25-year-old Megan McIntosh, both of Cheyenne.

Castellanos also pleaded not guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of another woman, Amber J. McGuire.

Prosecutor Michael Blonigen of Casper said Tuesday that the evaluation means that Castellanos' death penalty trial that had been set to start Aug. 14 in Cheyenne will be delayed.
