CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A judge has granted a one-day delay in the bank robbery trial of an Australian man who claims he gave the money to the homeless.

U.S. District Judge Alan B. Johnson on Wednesday granted a request from 39-year-old defendant Corey Donaldson for the delay.

Donaldson, who’s acting as his own attorney, said heavy snows prevented him from traveling from Cheyenne to his jail cell in Nebraska on Tuesday evening to retrieve his notes.

Prosecutors say Donaldson took more than $140,000 from the US Bank in Jackson on New Year’s Eve by telling the branch manager that a Mexican cartel was set to destroy the bank building with explosives.

Donaldson has said he took the money to distribute it to the homeless. The prosecution rested its case on Tuesday afternoon.
