It getting hotter and hotter here in the Capital City, and that means it's time for you to get your weenies on during the summer. This guy knows a lot about weenies.

Maybe you remember the old Chevrolet commercials that said, "Hamburgers and hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet?" Hot dogs have been a part of summer for decades.

Here are some weenie facts about the long, slender dog, that we love so much, that you may not have known about.

  1. Invented in Frankfurt, Germany in the year 1484. That's why they're called 'frankfurter's.'
  2. 7-11 sells about 100 million hot dogs every year.
  3. The average 'Joe' in America eats about 50 hotdogs a year.
  4. Hot dogs were eaten on the moon by Neil Armstrong and 'Buzz' Aldrin back in 1969.
  5. Hebrew National's aren't really kosher.
