ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (AP) — An Iowa-based company will lead the national search for the person who will lead Wyoming's education department.

The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the state education board selected Ray and Associates, Inc. of Cedar Rapids. It was the only company that proposed using social media and finishing the search by June 30.

Some board members were concerned that the company didn't know much about Wyoming and that the timeline might be too tight.

However, Sue Belish said the board could start running general advertisements for a director before deciding exactly what kind of director they'd like. The board will make recommendations to Gov. Matt Mead, who will make the final decision.

The director's job was created after most of the duties of the elected schools superintendent were stripped.
