CODY, Wyo. (AP) — A teen has woken from an induced coma after he was struck in the head by an errant throw at a shot-put event in Wyoming.

Meeteese seventh-grader Leo Horsen suffered a fractured skull and injured eye socket during the May 2 Meeteese Invitational. He had been helping measure distances in the shot-put event when he was hit by a practice throw.

Meeteese Schools Superintendent Jay Curtis says Horsen is responding to others and talking. He says he got that news from the teen's mother, Christine Horsen.

Leo Horsen is scheduled to begin rehabilitation at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, Montana.
