Depending on what era you served in the military, you know that Meals Ready to Eat, or MRE's were a part of your diet. The Army is testing new product's for troops.  Without touching the food, the Army is looking for new ways to freshen up the dietary experience of eating food while in the field.

One thing that the Army is looking at is placing a non-foil material on the inside of the package to both lighten the product and to keep it more fresh. One of the things they are noticing is that the new material would allow for a more air-tight package, thus keeping the food longer.

The Army still needs to test the new bags to ensure that they meet Army standards. There may also be new foods added to the existing menu. Some of the new items entail buffalo and lime sauces, cranberry powdered drinks, and hash brown potato's with bacon.
