When planning for a camping trip or family outing, everyone has what they deem to be a priority to take along. Here are some things that may help you survive in a camp.XBoxes, Smartphones and such like, may be a "survival" tool for the kids, but what should we really be taking along on a camping trip, should we need them for survival.

Today on the Top 5 at 7:45, I'll highlight 5 basic items that we should consider taking along on a camping trip, should something happen and we find ourselves stuck out in the woods.

  1. A Jar of Peanut Butter - Long shelf life and big on protein. This should help sustain you for awhile.
  2. Lantern And Headlamps - Always have some sort of light independent of your vehicle. It helps to see what you're doing in the dark.
  3. Tarps And Tents - Not only does it rain on the Army, but it can also rain on your camping site. Make sure you have a good tent, set on high ground and tarps to cover up equipment from potential rains.
  4. Matches And Wood - You never know when the temperatures are going to drop and you need heat.
  5. First Aid Kit - If someone gets injured, you want to be ready to patch them up until help arrives.

There are many, many other items that you should check into at your local sporting goods store than may help you with your trip. Think ahead, check and double check before you head out this spring on your trip.
